Plant Manager Cochrane Extraction Plant
Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, the Plant Manager will have the overall responsibility and accountability for physical operations of the Cochrane plant and overall plant performance.
The Plant Manager is responsible for worker and contractor safety, environmental compliance, community relations, employee morale and alignment, staffing, production quality, reliability and efficiency, maintenance practices, project and turnaround planning, purchasing, receiving and warehousing, process and project engineering and administration.
Key Activities and Responsibilities:
- EH&S Performance and Regulatory Compliance:
- Maintain compliance with all environmental and safety standards, codes, regulations, licenses and reporting requirements and instill a strong safety culture among employees and contractors.
- Employee Relations & Personnel Development:
- Set a positive tone for communication and collaboration with employees that allows key plant performance targets to be understood and achieved.
- Community Relations:
- Liaise with and maintain positive relations with area landowners, local government officials and community groups.
- Production, Efficiency & Profitability:
- Oversee the plant operations and/or develop systems and processes to optimize liquids production and energy usage.
- Reliability & Asset Integrity:
- Ensure programs for reliability and asset integrity are in place and well utilized by qualified and competent staff.
- Cost Controls:
- Manage plant and operating costs within approved budget, by tracking, trending and analyzing costs.
Education, Skills and Experience:
- An engineering degree (P. Eng.) or an engineering technology diploma and registration as a certified technologist (RET/CET), or a Journeyman Trade Certificate.
- Superior communications skills and comfort in dealing with people.
- Familiarity with developing and applying analytical frameworks and/or a systems approach to problem solving and performance improvements.
- Adept at using computer software and systems applicable to plant operations (e.g. Excel, Word, Outlook, MS Project, Maximo, Hyperion).
- Progressive management style that informs, engages and motivates employees to think, contribute and improve overall plant performance.
- The following are also desirable attributes:
- Experience with plant or manufacturing operations and maintenance
- Knowledge of gas plant processes, equipment and procedures
- Knowledge of the OH&S, Alberta Environment and ERCB regulations
