Maintenance Technician - Electrician Cochrane
This position, located at our Cochrane Plant, reports directly to the Instrumentation / Electrical Coordinator.
Key Activities and Responsibilities:
- Conduct preventative, regular maintenance, and compliance checks on plant electrical equipment to support the safe and efficient operation of the plant.
- Troubleshoot and resolve problems with electrical equipment, switchgear, and control systems at the plant.
- Maintain current and accurate electrical drawings and as-builts, as well as overhaul manuals, plant equipment records and general maintenance records.
- Responsible for maintaining, calibrating, configuring, and programming PLC's as well as general electrical devices such as switches, electronic relays, breakers and safety systems.
- Maintain appropriate records and documents and submit reports as required.
- Ensure that all operational activities comply with industry and company standards and best practices and ensure that work performed complies with regulatory, industry and company standards, procedures, and practices for safe work.
- Ensure that all tools and testing equipment are maintained in good operating condition.
- Installation of new electrical equipment and systems as required. This may involve the installation of cable tray, pulling cable and installing conduit as directed.
- Maintains high voltage equipment, rigidly adhering to safe work practices.
- May oversee and direct contract labor, ensuring the work is done safely and the task is successfully completed.
- Subject to callouts in off hours and on weekends to support the running plant.
- Subject to scheduled overtime during periodic plant or unit shutdowns and turnarounds.
Education, Skills and Experience:
- A Journeyman Electrician certification is required. Inter-provincial seal designation is preferred.
- Additional certification as a Journeyman Instrument Mechanic or Technician in a ‘dual ticket’ is beneficial, but not a requirement of the position.
- Related gas plant experience of approximately five years is beneficial.
- Experience configuring and maintaining automated systems.
- Demonstrated proficiency with modern electrical/electronic equipment and high voltage systems.
- Computer proficiency and excellent interpersonal, problem solving and economic thinking skills are strong assets for this position.
- Demonstrated positive attitude and outlook. Able to work with direction in a dynamic maintenance team environment.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Current H2S Alive, TDG and First Aid certification is also an asset.
- Experience working with a computerized maintenance management system is an asset.
