Team Leader, Corridor Pipeline - Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation & Operations Team (MEIO)
Fort McMurray

The Team Leader position is a field operations leadership role located in our Fort McMurray, Alberta office.  Reporting to the Manager, Pipeline Operations, the Team Leader is a member of IPF’s operations management team.  This position is responsible for ensuring the right resources and systems are in place to provide commitment, accountability and good management practices in the areas of day-to-day operations management, EH&S and regulatory compliance, and operations risk management.

The candidate must be willing to live and work in Fort McMurray.  A housing incentive plan is available to assist with the candidate’s housing cost.
 
The preferred candidate is a highly skilled individual with leadership capabilities and experience.  They are knowledgeable in petroleum liquid pipeline operations and familiar with the maintenance and operation of control systems, valves and rotating equipment.  The candidate is capable of solving complex problems utilizing analytical skills and informed and rational decision making, and has a confident interpersonal style that facilitates clear communication.

Key Activities and Responsibilities:

  • Setting measurable objectives and ensuring the right resources are in place for developing, communicating and executing key operational initiatives.
  • Creating a work environment and culture which supports and encourages:
    • Open dialogue, economic thinking, and continuous improvement.
    • Employees to be involved in the execution and the design, development and implementation of key programs and strategies related to their roles.
    • Excellent EH&S and compliance practices and results.
  • Ensuring projects are completed safely, in compliance with regulations, on budget, on schedule, and are an operational success.
  • Accountable for annual operating budget for the Corridor Pipeline Fort McMurray MEIO district, looking for opportunities to improve efficiencies and reduce costs.
  • Identifying, communicating and implementing effective strategies to mitigate IPF’s top 5 operating risks.
  • Provide Management with regular updates to review progress, emerging issues, cost performance and the future outlook for all major field operational focuses.

Education, Skills and Experience:

  • The successful candidate will have a technical diploma with a minimum of 7 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong employee development and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Knowledgeable in all current operating standards, codes, rules and regulations that impact pipeline operations are strong assets for this position.
  • Computer proficiency and excellent interpersonal, problem solving and economic thinking skills are strong assets for this position.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
